Breaktime . . . Time to be Together

It's vacation time from school.

Cooked some cheese sticks for snack. My eldest son craved for mango cream pie and Italian spaghetti on the side. My youngest son, on the other hand is crazy over stuffed-crust meat-lovers pizza (delivery).

Me, I just love having my kids here at home.

The Graduate

I can't believe I'm back at my grade school Alma Mater, St. Theresa's College, Quezon City. It's good to see the place so clean and well-kept. It is a simple school, by choice.

I went there to attend the Thanksgiving celebration of my niece who is graduating from high school this year. It was a very good program, where the graduating students showed their gratitude to their parents and teachers.

My niece represented the batch as she gave a superb Thanksgiving speech which was full of tender messages to the dear parents whom they considered the real graduates. Cool!

The different sections also had their own presentation of songs, dances and musical plays, all-girls casts. Girl power!

Great day for me! Congrats to my sister for her little girl who used to go to school in pigtails and pony tail . . . now a GRADUATE!

Refreshed

Just got out of a retreat session for three days and two nights. As the priest said . . . "we are spiritually high at the moment." Well, just savor the feeling of being re-charged.

There is no short cut to success. It’s always toiling and striving and sweating it out and fighting the voice that rings in our head “Give up Francis, this is not getting you anywhere…” It’s refusing to give up when it seems like the effort is futile. Same thing in business, same thing in career and it’s certainly the same thing in the Christian life.

Basketball legend Michael Jordan says: "I've missed over 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot . . . and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

Oliver Cromwell says it very well: “Not only strike while the iron is hot, but make it hot by striking.”
